Mount Merrion Youths Football Club is a junior soccer club based in South County Dublin. The club currently plays its home games in a few locations – Deerpark, UCD, Rosemount & Marlay Park.
We have teams for boys and girls, from the ages of 7 to 18. Matches are on Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons. Our younger age-groups kick off in the morning with the older age-groups following. For children younger than 8, we run an Academy on Saturday afternoons.
The club was formed in 1974, following the establishment of a team to compete in the Community Games. The club founders were Willie Philips and the late Jim Scully.
In the club’s first year of competitive football, an under 13 team was entered in the Dublin District Schoolboys League and since then this number has steadily grown over the years. The club currently fields over 40 teams, in the Dublin District Schoolboys League, the South Dublin Football League & the MGL.
In 2005 the club enjoyed one of its finest moments, with our Under 18 team wining the Leinster Youths Cup.
Over the last thirty five years the club has played prestigious friendlies against high-profile clubs, including Celtic, Rangers, Southampton, Borussia Dortmund and the Republic of Ireland Under 15 team. Additionally a number of our ex-players have gone on to play for senior clubs both in Ireland and abroad.
The club remains community based, drawing the majority of its players from Mount Merrion and the surrounding areas.
