As per Sports Ireland, https://www.sportireland.ie/ethics/garda-vetting, all managers and coaches in the club are required to be Garda Vetted via the FAI (Football Association of Ireland). The procedure for this is detailed on the FAI website https://www.fai.ie/domestic/safeguarding/garda-vetting.
- Download and fill out the “Online Word Garda Vetting ID Validation Form.docx” from the FAI website.
- Download and fill out the “Online Word- NVB 1 Garda Vetting Invitation.docx” from the FAI website.
- Register and Upload your forms for the vetting process from the link on the FAI website.
An email confirming your Garda vetting is in process will be sent shortly afterwards and you’ll be invited to complete the rest of the vetting procedure online.
All coaches must also have completed a recognised Safeguarding course. These can be booked online via the FAI’s coaching site. Safeguarding can be refreshed after 3 years via Sports Ireland’s website, https://www.sportireland.ie/ethics/safeguarding-1-online-refresher.
It covers the options for how teams can play out from the back and draw opposition players in to create time and space for midfield players to receive the ball and play forward.
This one is for midfielders, although the same principles could be used for strikers dropping into space on the edge of the box.
