UCD/MMYFC under-14 and under-15 sides fell to narrow defeats against Derry City and
Bohemians-St Kevin’s Boys this weekend, despite impressive displays.
On Saturday afternoon, the under-14 side were edged out by a Derry City side in agonising
fashion, with a late goal going against the Sky Blues.
C. Petcher looked like he secured a draw for the hosts, but it wasn’t to as the Candystripes
struck late on to secure the three points on offer at Marlay Park.
In other news for the under-14 side, they have been handed a draw in the U14 National League
Cup against Shamrock Rovers.
For our under-15s, they too came out the wrong side of a fascinating battle away from home
against Bohemians-St Kevin’s Boys.
Bohs took a first-half lead within the first half hour of the game before L. Crabb found the back
of the net with a superb finish from the edge of the penalty area.
Bohs, however, retook the lead just before the break, and moments after Crabb’s equaliser.
The hosts then raced ahead to take a 4-1 lead before a late rally from Shane Fox’s side towards
the latter stages of the game brough them back into the contest.
P. Morris finished off a fine move with ten minutes left on the clock, before then pouncing on a
goalkeeping mistake to bring the deficit back to one with five minutes remaining.
4-3 was how it finished, however, with Fox’s side taking plenty of courage from a battling
display ahead of next weekend’s clash against Waterford next weekend at Marlay Park.
